1 / What is a microschool?

A microschool is a small-scale, personalized learning environment that typically consists of a small group of students from various age groups.

A microschool is a small, personalized learning environment—usually serving fewer than 10 students across mixed age groups. It offers a more flexible and emotionally supportive alternative to traditional school, with a strong focus on whole-child development, creativity, and community.

2 / How does it work?

In Pennsylvania, students in microschools are legally registered as homeschoolers. This allows us to personalize learning and remove the pressure of standardized benchmarks.

We guide families through all required paperwork and ensure your child is supported both academically and legally.

3 / What curriculum do we follow?

At Fáilte, we draw from several evidence-based philosophies and practices to create a safe, balanced, and joyful learning experience.

We use the Waldorf Essentials curriculum as one of our resources, blending its story-rich and developmental approach with the Science of Reading and other tools to meet each child’s needs. At the heart of our program are the principles of Floortime, which emphasize connection, emotional growth, and individualized support.

This unique mix allows us to nurture the whole child—intellectually, emotionally, socially, and physically—while keeping learning developmentally appropriate and joyful.

Core elements you’ll find at Fáilte include:

  • Whole-child development

  • Age-appropriate, story-rich lessons

  • Daily arts, music, and handwork

  • Nature-connected, screen-free learning

  • Teachers as trusted guides

4 / What ages does Fáilte Microschool serve?

For the 2025–26 school year, we will welcome children in 1st through 6th grade.

Each year, we grow alongside our students—adding a new grade level annually.

5 / What is the enrollment process?

It starts with a conversation. You’ll schedule a phone call with Jennifer to explore whether Fáilte is the right fit. If it feels aligned, we’ll invite you and your child for a visit.

6 / How many children will be in a group?

At Fáilte we will keep groups very small. For the 2024–25 school year, we plan to enroll 4–6 students.

In future years, enrollment may grow slightly, but we intend to stay below 10 students to protect the intimacy and individualization that define our approach.

7 / What is the cost of tuition?

Tuition for the 2024–25 school year is $1,700 per month.

This includes all instruction, supplies, and support with homeschooling paperwork. Additional financial options may be explored during the enrollment process.

8 / Is it possible to have the school district pay the tuition?

While it is not common to have the school district cover the tuition of a microschool there have been times where a Special Education settlement includes the tuition of a microschool like ours. The same goes for busing by the school district.
